Q. How do I keep up with what's going on in the stock market?

A. There are several avenues to take to keep up with what's going on in the stock market. You can buy the local newspaper -- see the Investment section for daily details. You can subscribe to Investors Business Daily, or use the Internet for free information by going to Nightly Business News (www.nbr.com) -- look for "Paul Kangas Stocks in the News" under the "On Air" section. Nightly Business Report also plays on TV Cable Channels every evening, so check your local listings for your area to find the program.

Another source for free daily stock market updates is yahoo.com.! If you have not signed up for a free userid -- get signed up, then sign in and click on the "Finance" link (located on the left side), then select the "Investing" tab. You should see the "Market Overview" link (and other links) in the middle of the page. Click on the "Market Overview" to read the details.

Make it a practice to read up on what's going on in the market every day -- you don't have to spend much time,,,,but you must stay in tune with what's going on to make a better informed decision about managing your investment activity and looking for opportunity. Over time you will become more familiar with the terminology and events which move the markets.
