In addition to the Stock Option calculation screens, this program has several other features that really help organize and automate the entire process of Stock
Option calculations.
The screen shot below displays the different features available in the “Drop Down Menu” located at the top left of the screen. Each feature has “Help” included, but here also are more detailed aspects of each feature. “Create A New Save Location Name”: By default, when the program initially starts it uses the current “Month & Year” (Ex. January 2007) as the default name when you save your calculations in the program. If you wanted to use/create a different name - you click on the “Create New Save Location Name” feature and the program will bring up a entry field screen for you to enter a new name. You can enter up to 40 characters for the new name. Example: A. Smith Paper Trade Positions Example: Missed January 2007 Example: B. Smith January 2007 Positions Note: You should not use any “special characters” as the first character of the new name. “Display Stock Option Commission Setup”: This feature is used to setup/change the default stock option commission rate for the brokerage firm that you use. The top rated brokerage firms are already defined in this feature - simple select the one that you are using, then click ‘SAVE’. If you change brokerage firms at some point to another one listed, simply select it - then click ‘SAVE’. If you use a brokerage firm not listed, choose “OTHER” and enter the 'Base Comm' rate and the ‘Per Contract’ rate, then click on 'SAVE'! When the program starts for the first time, it will prompt you to setup the default commission rates before your calculation screens appear. This feature handles the automation for calculating the commission costs for your stock option calculations. If needed, you can override the default numbers by clicking on the square box next to the “OVRD” word. Once you do that, the program will use whatever numbers are in the “Est. Total Commission” fields (or new numbers you enter) to perform the calculation. To use the defaults, uncheck the checkbox and press “Enter”, the program will recalculate with the default commission rate values. “Display Current Open Positions”: Select this feature to see all of the open positions you have in the application at once for the selected Save Location Name you are working in. The program also totals up the Profit/Loss automatically for all of your open positions. “Display All Closed Positions”: Select this feature to see all of the CLOSED positions you have in the application at once for the selected Save Location Name you are working in. Once you have completed the “sell to close” of your open positions, update the calculation screen and choose the “Closed” check-box. The program will then display your closed position in a new window for all “closed positions”, and keep a running total of your Profits/Losses for a quick view. “Multi-Number Calculator”: Readily available calculator screen to quickly help sum up numbers right within the application. “Print Screen”: This feature is used to “Print” the screen to your printer. “Select A Different Save Location Name”: To choose a different Save Location Name, select this feature and choose the name you want to switch to and display other saved calculations, or create a new name. “Start Exercise Decision Calculation”: This feature is designed to help determine whether or not to exercise a particular stock option so that you see what the calculated figures would be if you exercised the options. Deciding whether or not to take profits on the Stock Options or take ownership of the actual shares can be difficult if you don’t know how to figure the numbers. This screen will help figure what those numbers would be. “Start Stock Calculation Program”: This feature starts the original Stock Shares calculation screen. If you need to calculate the actual Shares of a particular stock, you can have both Stock Option calculations and the actual Stock Shares screens active at the same time. Simply rearrange them on the desktop so that you see both screens fully at the same time! ![]() |
